Featuring a half-and-half game design that blends two distinct types of gameplay into one excellent whole, The Guardian Legend is one of the most influential games in the history of the gaming industry. You play as The Guardian, a female cyborg warrior tasked with preventing Earth's impending destruction via a collision with a rogue alien world, Naju. The Guardian must thwart the planet's demise by setting off Naju's self-destruct sequence before it reaches Earth. Gameplay is balanced between controlling The Guardian in humanoid form during overhead exploration and shooting sequences and faster-paced forced-scrolling shooter sequences where she transforms into a fighter jet and blasts, and among other things, gigantic robotic alien crustacean creatures. The Guardian Legend's developers went on to craft several more classic shooters on platforms beyond the NES, and modern game makers like the creators of Sigma Star Saga at WayForward Technologies continue to laud the game for its innovations in genre-blending.
If one company was known for its amazing licensed NES games, it's Sunsoft. With classic titles ranging from Batman to Journey to Silius (which was originally supposed to be a licensed Terminator game), Sunsoft had the skills necessary to take even the most unusual licenses and make them into compelling adventures. Cue Fester's Quest, a 1989 offering from Sunsoft that put gamers in the role of Uncle Fester, a character from the 1960s sitcom The Addams Family. Turned off? Don't be. Fester's Quest was an amazing game that was both deep in its delivery and excruciatingly difficult in its execution. Fester's Quest also takes its cues from a hodgepodge of genres, which will appeal to many kinds of gamers. Its top-down view makes it a bit of an action-shooter, while its emphasis on collecting items and upgrading weapons lends it more to the RPG and adventure crowd. Either way, there's a lot to see and like about Fester's Quest. But if you venture into this territory, be ready for unforgiving difficulty, one of the game's hallmarks.
Visually, it was cartoon thrills all the way. The game was packed with parodies of famous martial arts movies and stars. The various movie set stages all featured specific styles, with various hazards that had to be avoided while fighting your way through, such as aliens and dinosaurs.
In Alien Shooter 2, the Earth's resources have been depleted somewhat due to a biological experiment gone wrong. As a result, the Colonial Security force (CSF) must be brought back from the dead. Upon arrival on the planet, the aliens appear and begin annihilating the remaining Colonial soldiers. It soon becomes apparent that these creatures are not fleshy and are in fact a group of alien warriors. Two squadrons of Colonial troops are sent to investigate the destruction, and encounter a group of Xenomorphs which were injected with a synthetic life form. The squadrons destroy the alien invaders but are also killed themselves, and one of the Colonial troops is almost killed by one of the alien warriors.
Alien Shooter 2 features several game modes, including Story, Classic, Multiplayer and Arena modes. The story mode involves an introduction of the plot and main characters. It gives an overall overview of the game and how the story develops and progresses. The Classic mode in Alien Shooter 2 features simplified controls and higher quality graphics, though it is generally the same game as the original Alien Shooter. The multiplayer mode in Alien Shooter 2 features two variations; versus PvP and versus PvE. The PvP game is an intense session in which two teams of up to four players fight head-to-head for the win; the objective is to eliminate all aliens before the time runs out. Finally, the Arena mode is another variation of the multiplayer mode; here, up to three players fight to see who has the most kills. 2b1af7f3a8
